Spain to procure new AOR for 700 million euros

The Spanish Council of Ministers announced yesterday a new program for the Spanish Navy that aims to procure a replacement for the 30 year old A-14 Patiño.

Called BAC II (Buque de Aprovisionamento II) the program has a budget of 703 million euros, with funding to start in 2027 and last until 2032, the vessel will also be partially funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, the Ministry will spend 380 million euros on the BAC II between 2025 and 2029.

The Spanish Government is expecting to take delivery of the BAC II at the same time as Patiño is expected to leave service, which is expected to occur around 2030.
