Latvia to get 18 Archer howitzers

Latvia and Sweden have signed yesterday a Letter of Intent for the supply 18 Archer 8×8 artillery systems, the Latvian Ministry of Defense announced today.

The first Archers are expected to be in Latvia by 2026 and there is a possibility of future participation of Latvian industry in the industrial supply chain.

The Latvian Ministry of Defense also stated that both nations will commit to form a joint Archer 6×6 unit and that Sweden will lease an undisclosed number of systems to the Baltic nation until new ones can be delivered. Lastly joint training of Swedish and Latvian troops may be agreed upon in the future.
