Latvia is purchasing a further 42 ASCOD IFV’s, the Defense Ministry announced today.
The Baltic nation has awarded a 387 million euro contract to GDELS-Santa Bárbara Sistemas, 5 months ago, in January the Spanish company had received a first contract for 42 vehicles, worth 373 million euros.
With this second contract the Latvian Army will receive a total of 84 ASCOD IFV’s and per its Defense Minister, Andris Spruds, it will allow the fielding of a second mechanized battalion with the vehicle.
The first vehicles from this order are expected to be delivered in 2027, additionally Latvian industry will make up roughly 30% of the order.
