General Dynamics Europe Land Systems unveiled its NEMESIS self-propelled howitzer at the International Defence & Security Exhibition (FEINDEF) in Madrid, Spain on May 12.
The NEMESIS uses KNDS’ Armored Gun System 155mm L/52 howitzer, with the fully automated AGS module able to aim in all 360 degrees, allowing the NEMESIS to “shoot and scoot” in any direction. The module is able to conduct Multiple Round Simultaneous Impact fire missions and direct fire, with GDELS claiming a range of up to 54 kilometers or 70 kilometers depending on the shells used.

GDELS says NEMESIS’ automation allows for the self-propelled howitzer to be operated by only two crew members, with the cabin on the display vehicle having room for an optional third crew member. The company adds that the NEMESIS is capable of completely unmanned operations.
Underpinning the NEMESIS is GDELS’ ASCOD platform, with a 1100 horsepower diesel engine delivering its power through either steel tracks or composite rubber tracks.
GDELS positions the NEMESIS as a “potential replacement for older systems such as the M109 currently in service with the Spanish Army and other users”.

Also present at FEINDEF is the NEMESIS’ wheeled counterpart, the 10×10 PIRANHA AAC. Like the NEMESIS, the PIRANHA AAC integrates KNDS’ AGS onto the Piranha chassis, with the vehicle making its physical debut at the show following its 2024 launch.
